4 Attractive Bet Options In The Cypriot First Division This Season

The Cypriot First Division is a reliable market for punters

While the eyes of many may yet be fixed on the World Cup in Qatar, some punters are simply taking advantage of some of the ongoing lower European leagues and earning happily. One of such leagues is the Cypriot First Division, whose season continues to run.

Indeed, this league has consistently delivered goals: a popular and reliable market for experienced punters. So far, there has been an average of 2.6 goals scored per match.

Although it may be early days, Pafos have their sights set on winning their first-ever league title. Still, the most successful side, Apoel, will have plenty to say, with the former champions only behind by a point.

And in Europe, the representatives are holding their own. Two months ago, Omonia pushed Premier League giants, Manchester United, as far as stoppage time before conceding in the Europa League at Old Trafford. A certain Francis Uzoho, playing against his boyhood club, was heroic on the night. The Nigerian stood tall, frustrating Cristiano Ronaldo the entire game.

With 13 matches played, some obvious patterns have formed. As a result, some deduced betting options could help smart punters enjoy big rewards in the Cypriot First Division.

Over 2.5 Goals In Matches Involving Pafos

The appointment of Henning Berg has coincided with a change in fortune for the club from Paphos. From finishing in sixth position in the Championship playoffs, Pafos lead the log halfway through the regular season.

For all of the team’s solid defensive play last season, they struggled with discipline. Last term, they accrued seven red cards across the various competitions. Even more, they were tame in front of goal.

After managing 27 goals in 22 matches in the regular season, Berg’s men have found the net 29 times after just 13 matches. Indeed, no team has scored more goals than the Cypriot league leaders.

Pafos have surprised many this season

Jairo, who managed just eight goals throughout last season, has notched nine already in 20 fewer matches. The Brazilian forward now leads the scorers’ chart.

Still, Pafos have remained almost impenetrable. Kenan Barjric and Joseph Kvida have combined to keep eight clean sheets.

Pafos have recorded seven over 2.5 goals matches this season, including two in their last four. This is undoubtedly a lucrative option for smart punters.

AEK Larnaca To Win At Home

AEK Larnaca have hovered around the top five positions in the Cypriot First Division in the last nine seasons. But for APOEL’s near infallibility, they would have won the league at least three times in that span.

Jose Luis Oltra’s team sit in fourth place, three points behind Pafos. And yet, they have had a tough outing in the Europa League. They finished third behind Fenerbahce and Rennes. Oltra’s consistent rotation has meant that only Omonia has lost more matches than them in the top six.

AEK have made their home a fortress this season

Even then, the AEK Arena has been a perfect hunting ground for the Guardians. AEK have won six out of seven matches played at home, drawing just once on the opening day.

For much of it, they have shared the goals around, with Ivan Trichkovski and Rafael Lopez scoring seven of them.

Over 1.5 Goals In Matches Involving Omonia

If Omonia showed lots of endeavour in the Europa League, they have huffed and puffed in the Cypriot League. They occupy the final Championship playoff spot, but only just, as Anorthosis breathe down their throats.

Defensively, they have been poor. The Basilissa have conceded more goals than any other side in the top six.

Omonia’s Achilles heel is their defence

Yannick Ferrera has his work cut out for him in helping Omonia make the playoffs. Of course, one can argue that, having crashed out of the Europa League with no points, they can now focus on achieving their target. It is no surprise that Omonia have lost just once in four matches since their last Europa League match.

Omonia have played 10 over 1.5 goals matches this season. It is therefore an intelligent betting option for punters interested in the Cypriot League.

Under 3.5 Goals In Matches Involving Apollon

The defending champions are having a tough outing by their standards this season. First, they dropped from the Champions League qualifying round 3 to the Europa League playoff before making it to the group stages of the Conference League.

And in a difficult group consisting of AZ Alkmaar and Dnipro, Constantinos Makrides’ side fell short. The recurring theme across all competitions has been their lack of goals. They scored five goals on the continent and have managed just 11 goals in the Cypriot First Division.

Apollon have a scoring problem

The forwards have had a hard time in front of goal. Hervin Ongenda, signed from PSG, has laboured to fit in, still without a goal. Ezekiel Henty has scored just once. Instead, midfielder Ioannis Pittas has been responsible for four of the 11 goals scored by the Limassol team.

Apollon have played out under 3.5 goals in every league match played this season. Three of their five wins have been 1-0 scorelines.

This trend will likely continue as the champions continue to find scoring difficult.
