Excitement Expected In English FA Cup Third Round

A preview of what to expect in the third round of the English FA Cup
470views

The FA Cup resumes for its third round this weekend. In other words, it is time for the Premier League to take a deserved break- not the players, though.

The Oldest club competition still holds its prestige in England as ever. It is an opportunity for some of the “lesser” teams to compete with the more accomplished top division sides, too.

Leicester City are the defending champions after a surprising 1-0 defeat of Chelsea in the final at the Wembley stadium. If that was a brilliant feat, the win against Manchester United- the second best team in the country at the time- set it all up.

Brendan Rodgers’ men will be optimistic once again. Of course, they still have to contend with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal for the title.

Some fantastic fixtures are lined up for this round. The weekend looks sure to deliver goals aplenty.

Preview Of The FA Cup Third Round

Manchester City travels to County Ground tonight to face Swindon Town. The League Champions will be without coach Pep Guardiola and some first team players after returning positive Covid tests. However, they are expected to progress.

Burnley hosts Huddersfield as Crystal Palace face a tricky away tie against Millwall. Patrick Viera will miss the absence of his African Players who are set to feature at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Newcastle takes on Cambridge United. The Magpies, under new Saudi ownership have signed full-back, Kieran Trippier.

Brighton will travel to face in-form Championship side, West Brom. The hosts sit fourth on the table.

FA Cup champions, Leicester City will hope to continue this season’s campaign with a win against fellow league side, Watford.

Hull City entertains Everton as Chelsea welcomes Chesterfield to Stamford Bridge.

Wolves will fancy its chances against last season’s relegated Sheffield United.

West Ham and Leeds go toe-to-toe in an all Premier League affair on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham takes on Morecambe in what looks like a stroll in the park as Liverpool faces Shrewsbury.

The Red Devils were losers in this fixture in September

Nottingham Forest will play Arsenal before Manchester United and Aston Villa conclude this round on  Monday night.
